100 hits = ~10 stuns with 1st buff.
100 hits = ~12 stuns with 2nd buff.
+~2 extra stuns for every 100 hits is the increase. Most shades go from 1st buff straight to last buff,(or second last if they have trouble casting).

It really depends on how easily you can get your hands on the crystals IMO
